The Hungry Tiger of Oz

Publication Date: January 1, 2022

Chapter: The Wonderful Comics of Oz

In honor of Public Domain Day 2022, I decided to look at this year's "new" Oz book. Like most of Thompson's Oz writing, it's a mixed bag, though not wholely without merit. I have to admit, I do particularly enjoy the setup of Hungry Tiger stumbling into the one situation in which it might be okay to finally eat fat babies (though of course it isn't). The rest of the story, as you'd expect from Thompson, is a little bit racist, a lot bit sexist, and ultimately forgettable. Nonetheless, it's still Oz, and if Oz is your thing (as it's obviously mine), "Hungry Tiger" is still worth a read now that it's free.
