Rip is livin’ the dream, baby, sleeping for several decades instead of going to work (which he already didn’t do) or doing chores (which he also already didn’t do). He also skipped out on one, if not two, different wars, though he seems remarkably unconcered that his entire system of government has changed overnight.

But yes, when Rip went to sleep, he was an Englishman, and when he woke up, he was a real American, fighting for the rights of every man / he was a real American / fight for what’s right / FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE. Sorry, I got a little carried away there. The point is, there was a revolution, thousands died, and now we have baseball.
