I totally stole that Glinda from Skottie Young.

Anyway, it was at this point that Baum created a trans icon in Tip/Ozma, though the concept of a princess that spent her entire childhood as a boy was never really explored in the subsequent books. Edward Einhorn wrote a pretty great short story about it, though, called "Ozma Sees Herself," if you can actually find it anywhere. It's in an issue of the wonderful but short-lived Oz Story magazine.
