Publication Date: January 19, 2011

Chapter: English Literature in the Sixteenth Century

Note that this isn't technically Deirdre, but rather Molly drawing Deirdre. That said, I'd like to think that the real Deirdre is just abusing her time machine again for no apparent reason.

Collections of sonnets present a bit of a challenge to comicry. There's not an on-going narrative with regular characters to mock, so I really have to dig into random poems to find a few lines that trigger comedy in my mind. It's definitely tougher than working with short stories, that's for sure, though it also offers the freedom to skip ahead faster in the book as a whole. Instead of joking about every single sonnet, I can just pick out a choice few then move onto the next work in the Norton. Still, while I can breeze through poetry faster, the short stories are a lot more fun to draw overall.
